Wiskate.com was created in the waning winter days of 1998. At the time skateboarding video footage was actually quite rare to find on the internet. I had access to a video capture card (This was before digital video cameras were widely available, so a separate piece of expensive hardware was needed to capture video footage.) I decided I would take care of the situation. At first I added some video clips of a few of my friends and some other clips from old Plan B videos and things like that. Soon all the non-local stuff was phased out and I concentrated on showing the world at large what skateboarding in Milwaukee had to offer. The site grew very quickly and was soon getting over 5,000 visitors a day. This was too much bandwidth for our original host to handle, and we were soon kicked off. This was about the time I decided to make my own full length skate video, Hurry Up and Die, so while I did eventually get a new video clip host, I kind of stopped putting much new video footage online. That was probably five years ago, and that trend continues to this day. Now we're mostly just into posting cat photos. The evolution is complete.
