Yesterday, on my way home from work, I witnessed one of the greatest moments in life a young boy can have.
I was pulling away from a red light, and I saw three kids who were probably twelve or thirteen riding their bikes down the sidewalk. I saw one of them very quickly jump off his bike, letting it fall to the ground. His eyes were as wide as dinner plates, and he was looking at something that was laying on the ground. I can’t even begin to describe this kid’s excitement. He was so stoked that I slowed down a little to see what was going on. Then it was all clear, he holds the unmistakably oversized video box in the air like he just pulled the sword from the stone and starts yelling at the oncoming traffic: “YES, I Have PORNOOOO!!!!”. His life will never be the same.
In other news, it was cool to see that on the DLX site they put James Kelch’s video part from the first Real video. This was the first skate video I ever saw. I managed to get an 8th generation dubbed copy from a kid a school, and like the kid finding the porno, things have never been the same since. I can guarantee that I’ve seen this video more times than I’ve seen any other, seeing as I watched it every day for at least a year. Hearing kids yelling “WANNA KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING??? I’m waiting ’til I’m 25 to start my killing spree…” or “Wettin’ my tip….for the killin’…”were pretty common things to hear at my school when I was in 10th grade.
